The Style Child: DC Style

Whether you’re on a school field trip, visiting colleges, or just sightseeing, Washington DC is the perfect destination to take in the beauty of spring. Though the nation’s capital is known for its politic-savvy residents and gorgeous cherry blossoms, what grabbed me most about the city was its style. DC-ers are classic, tidy, and professional. They all seem to follow an unofficial dress code of pencils skirts, trench coats, and Tory Burch flats. For my capital attire, I decided to pull a Michelle Obama and wear a sophisticated dress from Jason Wu (for Target… first lady style doesn’t have to come with a first lady budget!) The black and white print, buttoned up collar, and neat center pleats give the dress a corporate feel, while the flared skirt and yellow belt that I added keep things fun and fashionable. So if you find yourself in DC, leave the Georgetown sweatshirt in your hotel room and let the city’s sharp style inspire you.
